SPAIN

Spain occupies an area of 505.955 square kilometers, which places it among the 50 largest countries of the world. Most of its territory is located in Spain, the rest, about 12,500 square kilometers, island - Balearic and Canary Islands - more 32 square kilometres that correspond to the cities of Ceuta and Melilla, located on the coast of Africa. Situation in the extreme south-west of Europe and only 14 km away from the African continent, gives a great strategic value Spain: Mediterranean projection, on the one hand, and as a crossroads of paths to Africa and the Americas, on the other. The peninsular condition of a large part of Spain also explains the extent of its coastline, which is being circulated in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea. Due to its location between 36 and 43 degrees north latitude, climate ranges from temperate oceanic in the North, the continental Mediterranean Centre and the Mediterranean in the East and South, what is there to be a wet Spain North and mountainous areas, green, Spain with lush forests and dry Spain in the Mediterranean.

Cultural tourism is becoming an alternative to the tourism Sun and beach, given the richness and quality of its museums, monuments, festivals and traditions, as well as exhibitions and various cultural events. By way of example, we will say that Spain is one of the countries worldwide regarding monumental heritage, richer is the second country with highest number of UNESCO World Heritage statements. An approximate inventory elevaría more than 20,000 important monuments in our country. The Spanish film and theatre are becoming a reference in Europe, notably the Mérida theatre festivals, Sagunto or Almagro and the San Sebastián or Valladolid Film Festival. For its part, the Spanish universities play a very prominent role in the dissemination of national culture.

The popular festivals and Spanish traditions are unequivocally religious origin. Nuance reflected in all expressions of folklore, which combine the religious fervor with pagan and recreational events. The cultural diversity of the country encourages that, from North to South, festive demonstrations are very different, and yet, at the time live with common celebrations in the whole land. The largest number of festivals are held during the summer, months from June to September depending on the geographical that combine religious and socio-economic aspects. Much of Spain also held various celebrations at the end of the summer (late August and early September) by historical to match them with the harvesting of crops tradition (especially the harvest). In addition, each area of the country has its specific festivals.

ASTURIAS

Asturias is located to the North, in the wet Spain or Green Spain. The most surprising of the lanscape of Asturias, is how to live the sea and the mountains without hardly distances between the two. The parkland of the Principality are known throughout the world (the small Scottish), but the Asturian beaches have nothing to envy to the extraodinarios mountain places of astur territory.  Asturian, coast of 345 km away, has a diverse and splendid panorama of beaches, coves and cliffs.

Its fauna and vegetation is rich and varied due to the uneven terrain and different areas of influence of the sea and the mountains. In the area near the coast dominate mixed forests of oak and chestnut, fresh forests of Hazel and ash, and the Bank with Alder and willow groves. Most recent is the introduction of rapid growth, such as pine and Eucalyptus species. In the average mountain zone dominate the mixed forests of you and oak Scots. Rise in height are the Pyrenean oak, Birch and Holly. In the high mountains, extreme conditions preventing the growth of tree areas, they are replaced by Prairie and animal matorral.Los are mainly in mountainous areas, parks and nature reserves, in whose forests survive species, now protected. The fauna of rivers and Lakes (salmon, trout, defendant, eels) has a large gourmet appreciation and a major tourist attraction.

The landscape of Asturias it is extraordinary, but its cuisine is not far behind. You can taste in restaurants and cider houses, in addition to numerous bars and "winches" popular taste throughout the region. Very traditional cuisine is rooted to places of origin of their products.
